Pedals/board recommendations

Re: Pedals/board recommendations

You want spacey with mods or delays?
I think the latter helps although u have reverb...
And phasers should be abused for funky stuff I love them for dreamy passages (with delay) or for leslie imitation swirly notes (not for that fake auto wah stuff .....) if not then chorus I guess or some like a BOSS Dimension .... and octave up and down can be cool w delay or verb (after or on the wet only signal)

Re: Pedals/board recommendations

The "Freeze" sounds like an accordian sustaining the notes. Or maybe there are just a bunch of very bad demos out there.

Re: Pedals/board recommendations

i think its kind of funny how you say you want space but a reverb pedal doesnt occur to you. :lmao:

i picked up a boss rv-5. seriously good.

i noticed this thread says Board recommendations but i didnt see you ask about one in the main post...

Re: Pedals/board recommendations

I use two looper pedals and I looked at a jamman for some time before I ended up going with the Boss RC-20. I am not at all a Boss fan, but the RC-20 is a flat out great pedal due to the features and that it is 9v and not some crazy amperage like the jammans... That means that you can hook your RC-20 up to a daisy chain or power spot without having to take up a-whole-nother power outlet. That is ultimately did me in on the RC-20.

Just my 2c.

That's probably because he already has a reverb pedal.

powered by a 1 spot and separate power supply for the cathedral. Right now it's in one of those NYC boxes, which I don't really like cause it's a pain in the ass to close with my volume pedal in there--and I got the EB jr. I'm not sure what boards I should look at so suggest whatever'll fit all this stuff. Since I still have 3 spots left on the 1-spot I'm probably gonna use it to power the rest of these, but I wanna mount a power strip to the board to plug the 1-spot and other power supplies to, and then just run an extension cord to wherever.

Re: Pedals/board recommendations

Just make your own board.

I think if you messed with a phaser and a tremolo you'd dig it.

Re: Pedals/board recommendations

I've come to agree about the echo/delay vs. reverb thing.

In a live setting, I find reverb just adds a mushy clutter to your playing; either that or no one can actually tell its on.

In the studio, you're better off adding reverb in the mix anyway.

That's why in my new rig I have a TC Electronic Nova Repeater, and no reverb whatsoever.

You are exactly right. I friggin' HATE reverb in a live setting, but it CAN lend a hand in the studio. However, live, give me a slap-back delay as the shortest (one repeat, about .25 seconds after the initial signal, no more than .30). Reverb muddies up the system. However, I digress. Drew, you don't need a dynacomp. They're noisy and you'll end up sounding like you're frying a hamburger through your amp. I've tried them. I know what you're using and I gotta tell ya, dude, you're working some awesome equipment. Just go for what you know, and it'll sound great. I promise.
