Pedaltrain Users - Any preferences for the velcro tape?

Re: Pedaltrain Users - Any preferences for the velcro tape?

Hooks on the pedals - When I get a used pedal that has velcro, the hook side is always attached there.

Re: Pedaltrain Users - Any preferences for the velcro tape?

I used 3m heavy duty and to utilise both hook and loop I put 1 piece of each ( top and tailed) to save any wate. It's extremely strong but I agree with Crook and next time I revamp i will isle dual lock.

Re: Pedaltrain Users - Any preferences for the velcro tape?

Always hooks on the pedals . . . reasoning? Because the pedals are usually attached to your board. The hooks won't pick up **** when attached to the board. If you coat the whole board with hook material though, every stray string in the city will find it's way into there and be impossible to clean out.

Re: Pedaltrain Users - Any preferences for the velcro tape?

^^ Based on the hook side of the velcro on my son's boots I agree with Steve here. Those hooks become a repository for pet hair and lint. If you put the hook side on the board I'm sure it will look like garbage in no time.

Re: Pedaltrain Users - Any preferences for the velcro tape?

Hook is the soft stuff, right?

I've had the hook on my boards for years and I've never had a problem keeping it clean, even when gigging.

Godlyke Power Grip, or the similar 3M variant.

Re: Pedaltrain Users - Any preferences for the velcro tape?

Probably worth saying I've now got the loop side of the velcro on the Pedaltrain and the hook side on the pedals. I'll have to look into this Power Grip suff mentioned, it's not something I've encountered I don't think.

This stuff looks pretty good.

No, hook side are the picky little hooks. The soft side is like carpet and made of loops. Look at it under a magnifying glass . . .

Neither. Pick up some dual lock!

Is that stuff pretty good? I was curious about it, the velcro works OK but pedals still come loose and move around sometimes.

Re: Pedaltrain Users - Any preferences for the velcro tape?

I get the industrial velcro from Home Depot it hasn't let me down yet.

I've used industrial strength velcro on a number of pedalboards. I've since switched to the Godlyke stuff. The only problem is that it's stoopid expensive. If I hadn't scored a bunch at a decent price, I'd go with the 3M Dual Lock. It's pricey, but less than the Godlyke.
