Pegasus 7 thoughts- replacing BKP blackhawks

Heya

In my wenge/swamp ash 7 I have been using ceramic blackhawks for a year or so. I like them still but I think I'm starting to like a mid output more. Starting to find them too saturated. too much output .Also the bass is tight but I think there is a touch more of it than needed.Just a touch . I play through a dual recto so bass isnt a problem . and I hate to admit its a factor, a minor one , but i liked the look of the blackhawks for a year but I'm starting to get over it .

so basically looking for a Mid output ,7 string , tight bass, nice mids but not upper mid honky and present treble but not as bright as the ceramic BH . just a bit warmer I guess but still tight enough for high gain rythym and definded enoguh for a loud band . the pegasus/sentient combo seems to tick all those boxes

the BH neck I like but its not a perfect fit for me. I use neck mostly clean in perfect circle kinda stuff and its not as chimey and nice as I'd like . the sentient seems to really tick those boxes

I googled every review I could find but keen to hear opions from the trenches if any .

EDIT sorry forgot the ? in my title .that I'm asking for thoughts not giving

Haven't played a Pegasus or Sentient, but it sounds like it's up your alley.

I have a Nazgul and it has a tight bass and isn't that hot. It's not as hot as you would think. And it's very dynamic.

I think Seymour Duncan nailed these new 7 and 8 string pickups, just based off my Nazgul experience and what I have heard as far as clips of the Pegasus and Sentient

The Nazgul is hotter, but it isn't over the top where you can't get articulation. To my ears it has a more expansive/tighter low end. While the Pegasus has more string separation. The Pegasus/Sentient should work just fine, think of the Sentient as the love child of a JB and '59.

cool. gonna roll the dice on a pegasus . never used a alnico 7 string pick up before so it'll be interesting to see if I dig it

Re: Pegasus 7 thoughts- replacing BKP blackhawks

OP, have you emailed Tim at BKP?

do you have the ceramic or the alnico Blackhawk?

sounds like a 7-string Emerald model or the Abraxas model might be up your alley, depending on which version of the BH you have.

ceramic .

I looked into a few BKP's.juggernaughts, holydiver and a few of the vintage models

kind of felt like a change as all my guitars have BKP's at the moment and on paper Pegasus looks a good fit

alos price was a minor factor . the SD set is half a set of bkps .usually I dont mind but me and the missues have joint bank accoutns now. have to reign it in a little .lol
