People really care about this?

Re: People really care about this?

Well, actually we originally were plant eaters when we were apes, and only started eating meat later on in the evolutionary process - we actually have very poor digestion of meat all things considered. Just look at a lot of the diet recommendations - WAY more veg than meat.

And other to that, I can't believe that you actually started this thread in the first place - whats it to you what anybody does with their life..... and what business is it of yours to question a complete stranger's lifestyle??

Answer - None at all.

Well Alex, Im glad you asked and went to bat for this stranger, I don't care what anyone wants to do with their own life or guitar, just laughing at the obvious craziness in being worried about a Vegan Guitar since he's 100% Vegan. That's all, no harm done. I like to laugh at things, its kind of fun. I am not questioning his lifestyle. he can make 1000 vegan guitars for all I care. I will just laugh 1000 times is all.

And we've never been apes..... apes are apes, we are humans. There is no evolutionary process. Two camels cant get together and produce a pumpkin. People make people, apes make apes... we share some genetic code with them yes.... and we also share nearly as much genetic code with Okra..... but we aren't Okra. We are people.

Answer - Boom.

Actually, all primates (including humans, apes and monkeys) are omnivores, not pure herbivores. The fact that we have eyes in the front of our heads as opposed to the sides, promoting better depth perception, and canine teeth as opposed to all molars would indicate that we are designed to be predatory by nature.
Neat article here http://www.livescience.com/9769-humans-outlive-apes.html indicates that a shift to a more meat based diet in our ancestral past could be a reason we outlive other species of primate.

Agree. But like the OP, I found the concept a bit of a head shaker. I have no problem with vegans, vegitarians, piscatarians, etc. Just as I have no problem with Jehovah's Witnesses, Hari Krisnas, evangelical Christians, or any other group. Where I start to get my back up is when a member of one of these groups holds themselves above others or tries to force their beliefs down others' throats.

Basically, I have a "you do you, I'll do me" attitude.

I started reading this and was going to mention that westerners eat way too much meat.

But now all I want to say is... Common ancestor, not apes, common ancestor.

Re: People really care about this?

I don't think that we will ever find the "missing link" between humans and the other primates because at some point in our distant past someone intentionally meddled with the DNA of said primates.

Re: People really care about this?

People join these cults/causes not to actually help save the world, but to have an excuse to lord it over others. They have serious psychological issues with self-loathing and doing this makes them feel better about themselves.

I've never seen a healthy-looking vegetarian. Ever.

Make my guitar out of sirloin. Please and thank you.

Re: People really care about this?

What do you call a vegetarian with diarrhea?

A salad shooter.

Re: People really care about this?

Didn't need that mental image. I have heard that in certain aboriginal languages the term "vegetarian" translates to "he/she who doesn't hunt well".

That's crud i could have more bush turkeys killed quicker than any of you. I had one trying to get into my bin just before. I bet a nice brick to the head would have sorted him and my dinner out for a few days. :cool2: Shame!

Re: People really care about this?

Can we make a guitar completely from animal products? I'm thinking cat gut strings, bone neck and bridge, tuning pegs made out of teeth? Perhaps a contoured hollow-body design using dried hides?

Yep, tortoise shell back, hide for the soundboard and any number of bones for the hardware and neck.
More dried guts as twine to assemble and a clam pick".....................yummy!

Re: People really care about this?

Well, it would have if you ate meat.

Re: People really care about this?

A Vegan, a Lesbian, and an Atheist walked into a bar. I know this because they told everyone there within 3 minutes.

LOL!! This is true.. To each their own, but... And Im going to state something briefly and then shut up as I dont want this to go political.. Its one thing to have a diff belief, lifestyle etc, but I do get tired of folks flaunting it and expecting to be treated special. Should NOT be discriminated against, but everything has gone full backwards in that now all these groups have gone from wanting equal rights to special treatment. And to make it worse, they are being granted special treatment. ok, will stop here.....

As one said above... people have been eating meat since the beginning.. Well, depending on beliefs, we were orig intended to be Vegetarians. Then, once Eve made the big oops... Adam could say, woman, I want a steak med well and baked potato....

Someone opened the gate to woodless guitars... heading there. measures already in place for conservative harvesting of woods and experimenting with alt materials for making guitars.. plastics and such..

Im all about protection of endangered animals and such and hate that elephants have almost been wiped out for ivory.. So, Im not opposed to ivoroid, etc. As long as the desired results are achieved. Bone nuts are most likely sourced from things already dead, so....

But hey, to each their own.. I believe in recycling and doing what I can to make the planet better in some way, so if this is what floats this persons boat.....

Re: People really care about this?

well, if you are concerned about the hormones and who knows what they feed farm animals with, then turning vegetarian is a nice idea, unless you can hunt and process the animals by yourself, but the whole vegan movement has been taken from an actual good cause to a just ridiculously stupid and useless elitist piece of crap.....

Re: People really care about this?

I eat vegans, she has somewhat of a nutty taste.

Not so good for peanut intolerants however!

Well, given the fact that pesticides and GMO veggies are out there means you really have to grow your own too. Just to be sure.
Me, I eat what I eat and die when I die. Who knows maybe I'll even develop some useful mutation before I go. Like farts that can stun unruly crowds or something.[emoji41]

Re: People really care about this?

saw this thread and immediately reminded me of this!

that being said honestly i dont quite care about it, like if being a vegan will let me live to the age of 100 whats the point of living 80 years without a steak? now am i going to hunt it, kill it, gut in and all the other nonsense? hell no, im a modern lazy american with access to a grocery store. modern evolution is geared more toward convenience than survival. in short boo health yay burgers! lol
