Peoples views and experiences with gibson classic '57 pickups?

Okay so i just got my spanking new es137 custom, and its a work of art, and it has gibson classic '57 pickups in it. Now i love the sound of the neck pickup but i havent really gotten into the bridge pickup much yet. I'll probably definitely eventually change the bridge to some kinda duncan (CC perhaps) but i was wondering what people thought about these pickups in general and if anyone has ever used them and really loved them.

So please just fire experiences and opinions about these pickups at me.

I think they are very good pickups and like the Burstbuckers, are nicer than anything Gibson made throughout the 70's and 80's...but that the Duncan Seth Lover and Antiquity HB's are superior.

My '00 Les Paul Historic 59 had them when I first got it. I thought the 57 Classics sounded excellant but just a little shrill and I eventually replaced them.

However, I've heard Derek Trucks using them in his SG and what I learned is that sometimes we GEARHEADS get to obsessive about our tone because he sounds superb playing that SG.

Here's a nice review and comparism of the 57 Classics, Antiquitys, Seth Lovers, etc.:

i think the 57 classic is a good pick-up on both positions depending on the guitar.when i first got mine i put it on the neck position but it sounded bassy and wooly my guitar is a bit on the warm side. so i put a 59n on the neck and put the 57 on the bridge and i think its a good combination. the 59 clears up the neck position and the 57 smooths out the bridge.i think for a warm guitar the 57 is good for the bridge and for a bright guitar, it is good for the neck position.

I tryed them...Both the C57 and the C57+. The Plus was too overly bright and harsh in the bridge position and makes for a better neck pickup in my opinion...The C57 is better in the bridge and is warmer and not as bright and harsh...The c57 in the neck in my guitar was overbearing in volume and very woofy in the lows...Both were sold on E Bay and the Duncans are miles above these pickups and I'll not try the C57s again....The 59 pickups and the Seths are both going to be better pickups...Alot of pros and players like the Classics so this is just my own opinion and nothing more.. :13:

I thought the 57 sounded muddy and dull in a LP classic i tried them in.
