Ok, got the right subsection this time.....

I'm looking for a new pickup for a LP......I'm wondering how the perpetual burn would go - especially as I'm not playing anything close to shred style. I'm somewhat intrigued by this 'mid-strength' pickup area. I like the idea of some push, but with still the openness that lower output pickups give you.

Re: perpetual burn for 'non shred'

I think it'd work well for you. It'll do what your amp wants it to do, of course. :) I tend to stick with medium-high output pickups when I can for exactly that reason and let the amp do most of the heavy lifting.

Re: perpetual burn for 'non shred'

I was thinking of starting a thread today extolling the virtues of this pickup. It's what most of us have wanted for a while, a custom 5 w more mids, a JB w tighter bass and no mid honk, and a 59 with more kick. I've got one in my Charvel san dimas and my Les Paul. And it sounds killer in both. And I don't play shred, more classic rock, grunge, blues, and Metallica type stuff. Roll the volume down to 7 you have AC/DC, down to 4-5 it's jangly, up to 10 and its Metallica time( w the right amp of course). As you can see I totally hate it

Re: perpetual burn for 'non shred'

Was gonna get the perpetual burn before with custom 59 seduced me with it's versatility

Re: perpetual burn for 'non shred'

I've written a blog post about using the PB for non-shred, check it out on the Duncan blog. ;)

Re: perpetual burn for 'non shred'

Which one reacts more with the volume, PB or C/59??
Talking about dynamics.

Re: perpetual burn for 'non shred'

Listening to the clips makes me want to slip an A8 in there.

before choosing a pickup
you should learn your first chord and stop trolling the group
because each time you are reported
and one time you will be banned
i hope, soon

not necessary to people to answer to the A troll
it's easy he was here in every threads i created to have a good opinion ? interesting comment? never
just to talk about he does not know: the guitar

so each time he is reported
good boy Alex : ) go on like that
a big folder now

I tried it a few years ago and really liked it . I play Scorpions/UFO type stuff at least I try to and also Dokken/Ratt type riffs. It worked great for that stuff and I did find it to have that openness you`re looking for. As stated in post #2 It`ll do what your amp wants it to do
