I still haven't found the "red strat" model Frampton used to play "Show Me The Way" - but I did receive a great offer to buy a Peter Frampton signature Les Paul. Anyone have experience with this 3 humbucker (apparently a 1954 custom) model? I liked the way in the mid-70's and the way Frampton makes it all sound today too. Will decide in next couple days whether to accept or not......probably going to add this to my collection of guitars and want to see if anyone has played this or heard it up close and first hand? Thanks for any feedback!

Re: Peter Frampton Les Paul

Not sure why my search would not work. When I did receive the offer I looked and couldn't find this thread.......but thanks! I'll let you know how it turns out. Don't own a Les Paul yet..... Was up in the air between this model and the Tom Scholz signature but I am still not convinced I should pay someone to dent and mark an otherwise pretty good guitar and then pay them more for it. LOL...... The Peter Frampton model is not a relic....brand new. The reviews are really favorable on Musiciansfriend, and a couple other areas.

Re: Peter Frampton Les Paul

In 54 humbuckers hadn't been invented yet so the 3 HB thing that Frampton played was a modded 54. It was lost in a plane crash with a lot of other gear then it resurfaced in South America. I believe Seymour Duncan had a lot to do with getting it playable again

For me.... I could never play the 3 HB Guitar that middle pickup just gets in the way and the tonal variation is more limited then a traditional 2 pickup Les Paul. You kind of loose the middle tone. The Frampton Les Paul is a beautiful guitar and if it suits you go for it
