Petey's Stash

OK..
I have been going through my stash of exotic stuff that I have been collecting for a lot of years..

and its time to make something from this amazing piece of maple..
If you want to make it yours, then act quickly and I can use all your specs.. neck timbers, chambering, bridge, pups, controls etc etc.

It has the most amazing natural burst, which screams to me that it wants to be a tobacco burst baby

if no-one is interested, no problem, it will be built to my specs..

Re: Petey's Stash

That is a really gorgeous piece of maple! I must insist on seeing the finished product when you're done!

Re: Petey's Stash

What a beautiful figure in that wood. The unique 3D'ness and varied shapes remind me of the Shroud of Turin.

Re: Petey's Stash

I'm not a figured maple guy but that's pretty damn nice.

How are things in Melb? Hear it's freezing and tempestuous.

Re: Petey's Stash

Having seen some of your previous work, I'm sure that maple will become a true masterpiece. Wow.

very cold at nights, but the days have been awesome.. real beautiful Melb Winter weather, I know that could be construed as an oxymoron.. but lovely clear skies.
had some wild wind last week, but that has gone..
How's the UK?
doing any good digs?

Re: Petey's Stash

^^ Seems to be getting more extreme every year when it comes to wind and rain, but yeah, those clear days are quite nice.

The UK is on default setting today – cool, grey, and wet :P. I just got back from my project in the Caucasus, which went really well - good results and lots of mountain sunshine, miss it!

Re: Petey's Stash

You had better make the largest guitar you possible can so that you can utilise as much of that top as you possibly can! :D
It's stunning!
If you don't mind me asking, where on earth did you come across a top like that?

I used to have a supplier, that has since stopped operating, and she had a real eye for unusual timber. From Washington state..

I have had it (and others!) stashed in my personal use cupboard for about 6 years.

Re: Petey's Stash

Ah brilliant! A shame to hear that she no longer operates.... I'm just starting out on my timber collection. At the moment I just buy what's locally available when I need it. The dream is to one day have a stash of tops like that one! :)
