PG + Jazz for Warmoth Les Paul

I'm assembling a W LP and I'm thinking for this combo. How many of you have tried these pickups in a LP? The guitar will obviously be different than a Gibson LP but I'd like to hear what you have to say.

The specs:
Carved body Mahogany-Flame Maple in W hollow style (pic)
Neck will probably be Wenge-Ziricote (double action truss rod)
This kit http://www.specialtyguitars.com/kits/lespaul.html with push-pull tone knobs for split & out of phase switching
25 1/2" scale
SS6105 frets
Tune-O-Matic bridge

One of my favorite LP sounds is Slash's sound (Appetite & especially Illusions albums). Despite not playing like him and not having his equipment I was thinking to use two Alnico Pros in zebra but I already have a double cream Jazz, so I'd like to use it and I'm thinking to match it with the Pearly Gates. The PG is also made with alinco II bar and it has relatively the same output as the Pro.

I have never played with these pickups. I'm seeking for a sweet sound in both positions. Fat but not muddy, balanced not trebly sound and I'd like to take advantage as much as I can of the 4-conductor cable with splitting and out of phase sounds. I'm a fan of neck pickups so both pickups will be used for clean & dirty sounds.

I'm a bedroom/studio player and my equipment is in my profile. No plans to buy another amp for at least a year or more but it will definitely be a low wattage amplifier like the Laney Lionheart L5T-112 or the Suhr Badger 18. Just a reference to understand the amount of gain I'm using.

OK, this is just MY opinion, but if you're going for the slash sound, stick with Alnico II in both positions.

I know it's tough when you already HAVE a pickup laying around that you want to use, but sometimes getting a pair that matches better is just, better.

PS. Just built a warmoth myself. Quality is unbelievable. Congratulations on deciding to make one for yourself!
