PG plus?

Hey there everyone!

I have a Fender Fat Strat courtesy of Mexico, that comes with a PG+ in the bridge. I LOVE!!! the PG+'s huge, full sound, with so much crunchiness. Now, the trick is, I want to be able to purchase a pickup that is the most similar as far as EQ and output is concerned.

HOWEVER! I need the previously chosen pickup in a 7 string model! (this is turning into a freakshow :smack: )

For instance, if somebody said "The JB! It comes in a 7 string version, too!" that would be perfect.

If you said some other model that doesn't come in a 7 string version, you are only half as cool :laugh2:

Please don't limit the selections to only SD pickups - I know that DiMarzio and other brands have good things to offer. I'm not looking for anything exact (If I were, I would get a custom 7 string PG+ wound by Seymour!) just the closest.

The PG plus it's a regular PG with an alnico II magnet. The PG+ in the end it's a PAF voiced humbucker with an alnico V magnet. That description takes it close to the 59. They probably will have some differences in tone but they'll be closer than any other model from SD catalog.

From other brands apply the same description, look for an low output, PAF voiced, alnico V humbucker. And with 7 polepieces!!!

I also think that a ´59-7 is about as close as you´re gonna get...I think the Jazz will sound much better for a seven string, though

Sweet. I really like the Jazz to begin with, and a Jazz 7 would be super ultra mega awesome. Right. Shame DiMarzio makes all their 7's with ceramics.

They should branch out and stop patenting things :laugh2:

:laugh2: Sorry the super, ultra, mega, awesome reminded me of a friend of mine! Of course the trademark scold was funny as well.

A 59 for 7 string is what I was thinking too, a Jazz 7 would have a lot more definition I'd think, the jazz handles low tunings well.

9finger said it is harder to do with Dimarzios, whether it's true or not is not within my realm of knowledge.

How are the harmonics of the Jazz Bridge? That's another major thing I'm looking for. They will be key for what I will be playing, which will be a progressive-rock deal.

So the Jazz needs to be good for rhythms, and have a nice cutting lead tone.
