PG Tele Dull. Damaged?

No one has mentioned yet, double check your tone cap value. A common mistake is to shift a decimal point. Ie., 0.22uf instead of 0.022uf. Just a thought.

Thanks everyone. I guess that’s just what the PG tele sounds like. Does anyone have a recommendation for a tele bridge pickup that would compliment the PG humbucker in the neck?

so you like the pgn, but not the pgb tele bridge pup. there is usually a pretty significant difference between neck and bridge pup, to minimize that, i might go hot rails or quarter pound.

In your original post you say..."The pickup works, but it sounds dull and 'quacky'"
In post #12 you say..."the bridge sounds full and clear while the neck sounds dull".
It was natural for us to think that you were complaining about the neck pup being "dull" (since that is what you said)..

But in post #17 you say..."No, it’s the bridge I don’t care for. Too much of a difference from the neck".
But you said that the bridge sounds "full and clear", not dull.

I'm having a hard time understanding what your problem is.
Which pup is it, really, that you don't like, and why?

Both pups sound perfectly fine/normal to me.

Re-reading this, I am as confused as you are.

Was going to suggest an overwound singlecoil Tele bridge.
The Paul Bunyan Tele from Zhangbucker kicks ass yet still has Tele attitude.
I like the Muy Grande from RioGrande a lot too.

Neither of those is hum cancelling though.
And they'd be more different from your PG neck than the humbucker bridge is, not less different..
For a bridge that's closer to your 'dull sounding' neck pickup, I have no suggestions.

Although if you wanted something really fat and not twangy, the Tone Zone for Tele from DiMarzio fits the bill.
Plus, it's a humbucker. However it'd also probably be louder than your PG neck.
