PGBL (or PGBI) question

I just scored this PG on ebay

ANyways, my question is concerning the spacing. This is about the third one I've seen on the bay that says it's out of a Fender but has the mounting tabs like an SH model (one hole each end).

Did the Fender PGs have these mountiong tabs or is this an S spaced pup? Either way I think I still got one heck of a good deal. I've used Sh pups in trem guitars, no problemo:naughty: and that's what I'll use it on.

....? Are there any Duncans with more than one hole on each mounting tab?

AFAIK, all Duncan humbuckers are as that one appears in the listing. Can't explain why that ring is on it, unless that's what the seller used/preferred.

The trem-spaced pickups use tabs with three holes on them. In this picture it's the one on the right that's trem-spaced.


As for the mounting ring in the auction, it looks like someone drilled new screw holes for some reason.

The is the base of my full shred bridge that is tremspaced. Oddly all of my parallel axis trem spaced bridge pick ups do not have 3 sets of holes like this. Never understood the 3 hole setup anyway.

The holes may make it easier to mount in angled situations. Also, I'm thinking that for manufacturing purposes it make identifying the baseplate easier.

This is true and there are special humbucker rings on the market with 3 hole. These are used with 3 height screw to tilt the humbucker.

Funny thing is, the extra holes aren't tapped. Just punched out with no threads. If you want to mount the pup for tilting capability with the outside mounting holes you have to tap them yourself.
