I agree. I prefer before, you may prefer after.

I think 75% or more of players use them before distortion (I do) however try it both ways.

I guess I'm in that 25% percent. I use it after.

Yeah, I have tried both. I have always used it before distortion. I tried it after so my pedal board was layed out better. It does sound different, it is a little more boosted...I guess I will just play around with it.

I use phaser before distortion in general. The phaser is like a wah in that it sweeps a notched frequency.

Also, I now understand the appeal of the Phase 90. Through my old amp it was way too extreme and I preferred the Phase 45. Through the new amp the 45 almost disappears and the 90 shines. Depending on your amp, gain pedals and tone preference it could easily sound better to you anywhere in the chain.
