I've got a bunch of Phat Cats, and my problem with them has been the A2 magnets. For me, they're just the wrong magnet for the neck and bridge. I took out all the A2's and gave them away to forum members. Just about any other alnicos will sound better. BTW, if you change magnets in a P-90 (of any kind) feel free to mix and match. Two of my favorite pairs are an A8/A4 in the bridge, and an A5/A4 in the neck.

I have two Phat Cats in neck position of a tele and a hollowbody. I like them with stock mags since I'm after warm sound. Hypothetically speaking, Phat Cat neck in the bridge would be bright with 500k pots as others have commented about the brightness and thinness of the bridge version. Just wondering if 250k pots is the way to go since I'll pair it with APTR-1 anyway. Guess it's a time for an experiment. I hate seeing pickups unused. Well, maybe it's just my excuse to have another guitar

I'm using a Phat Cat Bridge in the neck of one of my Tele's, it sounds great but the only reason its in there is because I had one laying around already & couldn't justify buying another one. That said, I'd happily trade my P.C. bridge for your P.C. neck if you want? P.M. or email me if you're interested....
