I think it would be totally cool if SD offered CREAM or BLACK plastic covers for the PHAT CAT. The Nickel/Chrome looks cool. But I, for one, would be absolutely sold. Just think, maybe you want folks to know you are playing P-90s. Just seems like another selling point to me.

Any 2-tone LP Junior-esque finish would look bitchin' with Cream or Black Phat Cats in it!

Can anyone say Heritage Cherry w/ Cream Phat-Cats?

I've always wondered, how hard would it be to lightly sand the cover, hit it with some primer, and spray it with whatever custom color you wanted. Could make for some interesting custom pups.

I was wandering if you would be able to replace the cover with something else

its supposedly a cut down p90 bobbin inside, so not particularly pretty... so you would need a cover of somesort

It is a very silent pickup when compared to other p90s. I think that's due to the cover, and I would not be willing to make that sacrifice.
