Phat Cats / '50s Gibson Wiring

I am no wiring expert, so I am soliciting some feedback on Phat Cats and '50s Gibson Wiring. I have been doing some reading about the Gibson '50s wiring and would like to experiment with it in EPI LP.

I pulled up the wiring diagram off the SD Website and see that the wiring for the "2 Phat Cats, 2 Volume, 2 Tones, and 3 Way Switch" doesn't seem to follow the "Modern" or "'50s" wiring schematic. I could be wrong, but that was the conclusion I came up with after conducting searches on the Internet.

My questions:

1.) Has anyone wired up Phat Cats based on the '50s wiring?
2.) If so, did you use .047 cap? In the '50s wiring is seems .022 caps are used.
3.) If so, how did it sound?

Thank you.

Re: Phat Cats / '50s Gibson Wiring

I used 500k CTS pots, .022mfd Orange Drop caps and 50's style wiring with mine and they sound fab.

They're thick and rich with a very cool ability to cut through.

Re: Phat Cats / '50s Gibson Wiring

Just so you know, the "50's mod" is just a question of whether you connect the tone control to the input of the volume control or the output of the volume control. That third link makes the wiring appear unnecessarily complicated by reversing the connections on the tone pot. That serves no purpose at all. Only the left side of that diagram is relevant.

FYI. :)
