I have four amps. All of which I believe are gig worthy. I'd like to know which one would you choose and why...

Peavey Valveking II 20 Watt Tube Head (two channel, effects loop, digitial reverb)
Jet City 22H 20 Watt Tube Head (two channel, effects loop)
Peavey Bandit 112 USA Redstripe combo, (80 Watt Transtube Solid State, with effects loop)
Marshall DSL40C, 40 Watt Tube Combo (1x12 open back combo 2x2 Channels w/ digital Reverb)

Speaker cabs available- Jet City JCA 24S+ & Jet City JCA 12S

Ready.

Set.

GO!

Re: Pick One - And Why

Never played any of them. I'm thinking the DSL would be the most versatile and, as you haven't specified what the intended use was, I'd go with that.

The JC is close behind though.

Re: Pick One - And Why

Jet City 22H with the 24S+ cab because it is closest to my sound; that fat Soldano overdrive.

Re: Pick One - And Why

DSL40 is the one I've played and liked the most. Used to own a DSL50 and used it with a 1x12 cab, I'm fairly familiar with what they can do.
The Jet City is my second choice. they have some good drive sounds but EL34s in the DSL make a big, powerful sound and can pump out cleans pretty loud too.
DSL40.

Re: Pick One - And Why

I don't know what I'm using it for (live, studio, practice, at home?), but given the choices I'd pick the Jet City first, then the DSL. Just my gut feeling, those are what I'd plug into and want to play.

Re: Pick One - And Why

stereo rig
DSL + Bandit

seriously I have seen bandits gigged all my life
never heard a bad one
just bad players

Re: Pick One - And Why

if i was after one amp that i could use for any gig and enjoy the sound it puts out night after night, i would sell all four and use the money to get something really nice.

Intended use is what you'd use it for, particularly with a band.

Re: Pick One - And Why

Probably the DSL40c with the OD volume cranked, and the gain up to where it creates a singing lead tone that's more classic than metallic. Then adjust the clean channel to be a pushed midgain that can be controlled by the guitar's volume for clean to rhythm gain.

Pick them for what?

I'll take the MArshall on principle.

Re: Pick One - And Why

The Marshall, boosted with a Rat or D+. Reason being it's the only one on the list I have experience with and know how to make it sound good.

Re: Pick One - And Why

Peavey Valveking II 20 Watt Tube Head (two channel, effects loop, digital reverb) - Little Blues club tour of small rooms

Jet City 22H 20 Watt Tube Head (two channel, effects loop) - Metal band of originals

Peavey Bandit 112 USA Redstripe combo, (80 Watt Transtube Solid State, with effects loop) - Dive bar tour across America (only amp of the bunch that would survive)

Marshall DSL40C, 40 Watt Tube Combo (1x12 open back combo 2x2 Channels w/ digital Reverb) - All around whatever, rock, blues, metal, cleans (excellent cleans)

I like your thinking! Someone steals my Bandit, I won't be too heart broken. Only paid $100 for it..
