From what I've researched it was Built in The Cort factory Korea Feb 2003.

Score! Same thing happened to me with an esp ec1000 I got it for 3 bills..

Myself I couldn't live with a neck pup in the bridge.....
I've put a few bridge pups in the neck though!

The 498 will have more clarity and be more bright I would think, I would swap it out. That's just my 2 cents.
