Pickguard is Noisy....

I noticed, last night, that when I run my fingers along the pickguard of my Tele, there's a noise like static electricity. It's not bad but I really would rather not have it happen. My pikcups are noiseless as well.... Anyone have any ideas as to preventing this?

Re: Pickguard is Noisy....

Wipe it down with one of those pink pads you throw in the drier to prevent static build up. And quick playing in your stocking feet and shuffling around the house on your carpet! :laugh2: That's what causes it. :) Lew

That's a classic, Lew. :laugh2:

A great idea too.

Re: Pickguard is Noisy....

Oh, the solution is simple. You've got to pound a giant copper stake into the floor of your house, 5 feet into the ground, then run a wire from the stake to your pickguard. I know, it's a pain, but it's all you can do. :laugh2:

How romantic!

Re: Pickguard is Noisy....

I just spray a little static guard on a paper towel and wiped down the guard. It works for me!

Re: Pickguard is Noisy....

The exact same thing happened with my Tele. Took the pickguard off and put foil on the backside of the pickguard. No more noise.
