Picking hand endurance exercise.

Re: Picking hand endurance exercise.

"Such subtlety. Such subtlety."

Sarcasm IS passive aggressive.

Not necessarily.

Gibson175's comments could be considered passive aggressive only in the sense that he rejected a helpful suggestion from a third party. Herein lies the problem. One person's definition of helpful could be another's definition of nonsensical.

Re: Picking hand endurance exercise.

there has to something to physical conditioning, or we could all just watch 1000 youtube videos, read a couple books, and play like virtuosi.

i know i don't play as well if i don't pick it up for a while, and it isn't because my thinking or approach has changed.

pretty surprised to see that kind of response coming from someone of cam's skills and experience; it's more the kind of thing we'd expect from jerry after a few drinks

Re: Picking hand endurance exercise.

Doc Ad: This is what my first post said:
there is no need for building strength or stamina beyond playing and developing good technique. Good technique means you don't need either. Its kinda like kung fu.

I agree that if you dont play for a while you lose some of the edge from your playing skills. I never said you can play better, faster, more expressively or more efficiently by watching you tube videos. Its pretty clear really what i mean in that original quote. Playing gives you all the strength and conditioning you need.

If you go to the trouble of reading my second post you will notice that the last line says this:
You don't need more strength. You need too look closely and deeply at the mechanisms involved in how you play.

Which pretty much sums up the whole post. Improve your technique and you wont get fatigued.

The OP is just pissed because i reckon his squeezy bottle idea is a waste of time. I think the op and all players (including myself) can get vastly more improvement by playing more and by honing our technique to play better. My reasons are outlined above. Honestly, I don't care if that upsets him or anyone else. Its my opinion, and forums are for expression of considered opinions on various subjects.

I'm not pissed because you think it's a waste of time. I'm not even pissed. I'm already where I want to be because I did my own thing. I just acknowledged what you suggested, for some reason you think I think what you said was bs or something. I basically just said after your post that I know what you mean and I'm working at it, I'm just trying something else too because I figured it would help, and it did. Now I don't need it anymore. But you felt the need to make fun of me for some reason, so whatever. I actually like your other posts and thought your initial post here was cool and informative, so I'd rather not have any bitter bs between us.
