"Pickup Break-in" Any truth here??

Re: "Pickup Break-in" Any truth here??

…there is a small period where the new tonality seems to settle

Imagine, if you will, that you have just replaced a pickup on your guitar. Likely as not, you have also changed strings. By any chance, is the "settling in period" about the same as the time that it takes for the newness to wear off the strings?

Is this what you tell your wife when she wants the diamond instead of the zircon?

Not married, and no plans to ever be. However, if I ever did, I hope she'd be the type if woman who wouldn't want a polished rock that someone mined to help fund a militia that hacks people to death with machetes. But hey, 'Murica's all about expensive, worthless **** to give the appearance of superiority, isn't it?

And all that tripe has frick all to do with the fact that different things are different. Just cause they look the same doesnt mean they are the same.

Hell take a trip to your friendly local lumber yard and ask them about the grades and types of maple. You will likely be given a half dozen or more choices ranging from tooth pick material to stuff for cabinets. It is not all the same.

But i get the feeling your whole issue has more to justifying to yourself your own buying choices. You tell yourself that you are morally and economically superior.

This if fine you should be happy with your choices, in particular if thats all you can afford

But it is still blatantly false to call them all the same. If they are all the same then I want to know why you own a MIM Strat and not a Squire strat.

Sounds political to me. Are we supposed to venture into such territory here? Seriously, isn't there an anti-America or anti-capitalism forum somewhere you can go to vent your (sexual) frustrations to? You're wasting your time here.

I think the spirit of DreX is among us.

While DreX is banned let's not keep talking about him since the constant beating of that horse is just as bad as anything he's done.

I wouldn't consider that particular post of Bodeanicus to be political, really, but rather a commentary on society. It COULD turn political, but as long as it doesn't, I'm fine with it. Also, as long as it doesn't completely derail the thread, it's cool. This thread has stayed... mostly... on track. LOL

Bodeanicus, there wasn't a break in period on that Nokia Lumia 822, was there?

Teh subject, don't change it. How ARE masterbuilt models the same as MIM ones?

That's not political, it's just fact. I'm about as far from "anti-America or anti-capitalist" as one can possibly be, but I will not buy diamonds because I do not need to support the things that go on in order to mine them and get them to us. If you want "clean" shinies, get saphires mined in North America.

You may now return to your frivolous arguing :nana:

Re: "Pickup Break-in" Any truth here??

I wont buy diamonds because ...

Translation: I can get a new Paul for that price !

Leaving two options:

1. Try and sell her on the atrocities so she gladly accepts a nice piece of glass as a substitute.

or

2. Buy her a nice piece of glass and let her think it's a diamond (but hope she never has a jeweler loop it).

:D

I am not debating whether or not the comment about diamond mining is a fact or not. However, the following comment:

But hey, 'Murica's all about expensive, worthless **** to give the appearance of superiority, isn't it?

was a bit stereotypical, borderline political and a bit misinformed.

I would file it under pot stirring... border line trolling. When people say things like that they know they are trying to stir up crap. Same with the MIM = custom shop comment. People who say that sort of thing are looking for a reaction.

People are completely free to say really, really, really dumb things, as long as they don't cross the line into actually starting trouble or unequivocally breaking the rules. You guys are usually pretty good at filtering out the dumb stuff and keeping the knowledge based in real, true fact.

But, let's not talk about rules. Let's talk about how dumb the article in the OP is. LOL

Wasnt implying that they werent free to say what they want. Look at all the heh ummm "silliness" Unca Jer has treated us to over the years. Just saying that usually when people spout this stuff its seeking a reaction.

Bad part about the article in the OP is that I think we are all getting trolled. The dude is getting hits out of us and he knows that. Like the youtuber whose name rhymes with snot stove (dont want to type his real name he gets enough hits as is)

Though it probably says more about us being willing to follow that rabbit down the hole

I can't say I argue with you. Sometimes it's hard to tell whether somebody is a poorly lobotomized moron or a really clever troll.

Well, some of my most successful attempts at trolling required subtlety and panache in trying to sound as dumb and as audacious as possible that the target latched on to those instead of the actual contents.

Sometimes, you'd be surprised how many genuine morons there are, though.

Re: "Pickup Break-in" Any truth here??

^^
I suppose I prefer a genuine moron to a fake intellectual. And no, this is not directed towards anyone in particular posting in this thread.

Re: "Pickup Break-in" Any truth here??

Wow, I'm sad I wasn't here earlier...
Custom Shop masterbuilt Fender = the MIM Fenders?
Thats like saying Prime Ribeye = Select Chuck
While I'm not above playing Or eating either of those respectively, the pickups ALONE throw that argument right out the door and into the sun, ignoring the hardware , materials, and attention to detail given to the fit and finish. I doubt he's played either, let alone both side by side. I mean damn, I can tell the difference between the 2 both blind and deaf.
