pickup change - which pair for a Gibson SG Standard?

Re: pickup change - which pair for a Gibson SG Standard?

Yeah, I thought of '57 Classic set, but I want to escape from Gibson - SDs are just better for me. The P-Rails sound quite interesting - but do they come covered, or at least in cream - I don't like the black (and I only saw the P-Rails hot in cream - for the bridge). Another issue is the market here - it's not easy to find them all models. I have to use ebay, but still from Europe sellers, since from the US the shipping will cost as much as another humbucker.

I love '57s but I also love PGs. Pearly gates are a little brighter, more in your face, but the '57 can still have a brightness. The '57 has more mids which can be powerful. Both are a2 and can be modded with mag swaps to suite your taste. And both have a vintage tone. I love a8 mags and they would be a monster mod for either PU.

Brobucker bridge and either a Seth,59,or the VPAF in the neck is my choice..

Re: pickup change - which pair for a Gibson SG Standard?

I think I am off with the SH-1 '59s for bridge and neck.
Oh, one more thing - how do they come short legs or long legs - and what type for the Gibson SG? I found several sets on e-bay - nobody writes anything about this.
P.S.: If get P-rails - will it work to connect them with a small three way switch for hum, P-90, single options? What type of switch should I get.

P-Rails in the bridge of an SG is awesome. Either PG or '57 in the neck (both Alnico2) would go very well with the P-Rails. I would also get the flat Triple Shot mounting ring for the P-Rails to give you every possible combination of that PU (P-90, Rail, serries bucker, parallel bucker).

You want short legs for an SG. I've got a SG with Dirty Fingers (long legs) and the PU was always falling off of the mounting ring if I tried to adjust it away from the strings (the screws are too short for long legs in a SG, and it's impossible to find long enough screws to fit the long legs). I had to take the base off the DF and replace it with a short legged one. Now it works great.
