Pickup Combinations

How can I know what pickup combinations sound like before installing them? Ive got a Fender Fat Strat with a TB-4 in the bridge and I don't know what to replace the stock single coils with.

what style will you be using the guitar for? what sound do you want?

I play metal most of the time but occasionally play other types of rock. Im looking for a nice shred sound for the neck and maybe a warmer pickup in the middle position but Im not sure what would sound good in the 4th position with the JB.
