Ok choose...I play punk rock and metal...I think I need a lot of output and some heavy distourtion.
I'm only putting 4 but if you have other suggestions please post!

This combo will be going into a Schecter Blackjack Tempest :saeek:

I vote for the JB/jazz simply because they will do whatever you tell them to do!
in yer case if you say "PLAY PUNK or PLAY ROCK" they will! :laugh2:
reall great combo for ANY style

Re: Pickup Combo showdown to make it easier for me to choose.

yeah I know...i was just curious if it would hold up with metal and down tuning

I don't use any of the combinations you show, but what about adding the PGN and PGB,plus the Scremon Demon bridge to your poll? Also the CC and the C5..

yeah it would no problem depending on your amp and its settings

Re: Pickup Combo showdown to make it easier for me to choose.

First off, what amp will you be using? If you already have a gainy amp and will be downtuning, it really makes no sense to use a super hot pickup. If this is the case, lower output pickups will work much better, I would go for something along the lines of a Jazz neck and a Screamin Demon in the bridge.

Well right now I own a Marshall AVT50 Combo Amp....it's ok for now but I plan to buy a full tube mp in the future...maybe a Crate Blue Voodoo, or a JCM 2000, or a Mesa Boogie...if I can afford one. lol

Dimebucker,59n worked well enough for the man in your avatar. The Dime in my guitar rips and riffs like a s.o.b. I have it paired with an APH-1n, but APH-1 is a little too polite, I'd like to hear it with a 59n.

dude, believe me. the JB will handle down tuning with ease. I actually think it sounds better downtuned.

Re: Pickup Combo showdown to make it easier for me to choose.

I've voted Jazz/JB cause it's the most versatile combo and the pickups complement very well each other.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAnd I voted those(^^^) samer reasons

Re: Pickup Combo showdown to make it easier for me to choose.

the lack of tightness in the JB just makes me not like it. I dont think it is that versatile myself. I think it is the pickup for leads and solo's though. I voted for the DD/jazz but, I would go for the custom5/pearly gates or Custom/jazz or the Dimebucker/59.

As far as metal goes, if you have a decent amp, you dont need a high output pickup. You could get it done with some sort of PAF (59,APH,PG,).
