Deactivator 8 - Sounds much better clean than the Nazgul. However I don't imagine the Nazgul was ever meant to be a clean pickup. The deactivator is a nice fat sounding pickup, but the bass response negatively effects clarity. The Deactivator would probably sound better with a hardwood body rather than basswood and rosewood.
Nazgul 8 - The strong treble, midrange and attenuated bass works very well with the lower notes and retains clarity. Phrasing on the Nazgul really is accentuated which is good for more complex playing. The EQ of the Nazgul makes sense when you consider the instruments will probably be basswood with rosewood and the amps will more than likely be thick sounding master volume designs.
