pickup cover

I noticed when looking at the sh6 Duncan Distortion on sites such as Musicians Friend, etc......just the the pickup itself is shown, not an option for a pickup cover (gold, silver, etc.) I take it I can still reuse the gold cover that is already on my Epi LP Custom after I install the new sh6? I've never installed a pickup before, so some of the little things I don't know. Thanks. David

Re: pickup cover

Your probably better off just ordering a Distortion with a nickel cover pre-installed.

Theres a few dealers here on the forum, including myself, that would be glad to fix you up with the pickup.

Welcome to the forum!

Re: pickup cover

My question regarding this thread is that what difference does it make in sound if you have a pickup cover or not, just curious ?

Slightly less treble.attuenates the highs.Chrome is the thickest coating, and will mask more, followed by gold, nickle(shiny),and finally, raw,or what is commonly called MAtt covers.Dont forget to apply the wax first, gaps between the cover and the top of the bobbin are major causes for microphony.Motor city pickups does this at a real reasonable fee.

Re: pickup cover

If interested I have the covered Distortions in stock in either nickel or gold.

You can also send an uncovered pickup to Duncan and they will add the cover and wax pot it for a reasonable fee, something around $20.00 I think.
