Re: Pickup for doom metal

a really hot P-90 or the rawest pickup you can find, like a Parallel Axis Distortion a Dimebucker (it might be too bright for sludge but i can nail sabbath and candlemass with it), a Invader, a Slug or a X2N, a WarPig (ceramic) will also work or a DeathBucker, also the lace Dirty Heshers and Finger Burners will work fine

How are you liking the Slug? What guitar did you decide to put it in?

^^^I'd also be grateful to hear any first-hand reviews of the slug and how it compares to some of the classics, hopefully same-guitar comparisons.

For sure. I'd imagine people that are suggesting it would be the ones that have the first hand experience. Looking forward to hearing more.

I agree with the Slug. I think the modern metal pickups (Pegasus, Nazgul, etc) are too tight in the lows. A Phat Cat is a good choice too.

The three that I've seen for doomy sludge are the x2n, BareKnuckle warpig and slug
