Pickup grounding problem

Hey! i recently installed a SD 59 to my Les paul. But anytime i select both pickups or the newly installed pickup i get a buzzing noise. But if i touch the strings or anything metal on the guitar the buzzing stops so i figure this is a grounding problem.

When installing the pickup i followed all instructions, but it didnt say anything about the foil surrounding the signal wires so i just cut it. Should i have soldered this ground?

The foil itself, you needn't worry about, but the braided wire that runs inside it should be grounded.

ah that would explain it, i cut that :S. Well,ill havta fix that later then. Thanks for your help!!
