Ok hears my issue. I have an ltd alexi 600se it has an emg hz4 passive pickup in it. I want to change it out for an ahb-1 blackout. Is there a special thing I should now about doing this cause I dont want to ruin my guitar? Thanks in advanced.

Re: Pickup help

the blackouts come with all of the required parts except a 9V battery.

you'll need to replace your potentiometers and your input jack - not difficult, but it'll take a little more effort than a regular pickup swap. you'll also need to make sure you have room for a battery in your control cavity. On some guitars you need to rout out a cavity for the battery.

from this page: http://www.seymourduncan.com/products/electric/humbucker/cutting-edge/blackouts/

click on "wiring instructions" to download the info you need

Re: Pickup help

Ok thank you now I only need the bridge pickup. So I can buy them seperately but by getting them seperately will it still come with all the proper stuff? Also it has room for the battery in the cavity. Also the guitar has a floyd rose double locking trem and there is a wire running to the cavity were the spring is. Is there ither stuff i should know about that since it has that?

the wire from the trem claw is a ground wire. solder that wire to the back of one of the potentiometers to ground it out. Since the claw is connected to the springs which are connected to the trem block which is connected to the bridge . . . this grounds your bridge. all trem-equipped guitars should have this, Floyd or not.

Duncan is supposed to include the parts you need whether you buy singles or a set. maybe someone that owns a Blackout set can chime in . . .
one of the pickups should come with an output jack I would hope. worth a call to Duncan if you're not sure. their customer service is pretty good.

So the ground wire shown on the diagram connecting to the 25k volume pot into no mans land is the ground you are refering too. Ok got it thanks. Wish this thing would of came with the blackout to start cause it is what Alexi uses now.

Re: Pickup help

Ok someone need to know this guitar is a 1 volume no tone I bought the AHB-1 bridge because all it has was the bridge. We stopped mid way through because the diagram on the site shows three wires coming from the pin connecter. The one in the box has only two. It looks as if the white was soldered into the black but the connector pin still has all three but it becomes two. It shows the vol pot has three wires connecting to it as grounds. Why is there now only two? Red and black but the diagram says I need a red white and bare metal.
