Pickup ideas for Jaguarillo (HSS)

Hey guys. I picked up a Fender Jaguarillo on MF closeout (great deal) and I am not really digging the Atomic HB. This is part of the Pawn Shop series and it is basically a Jaguar with a slanted superstrat configuration (HSS) and a 24" scale. I would like this to be my 90's alternative guitar (Chili Peppers, Dino Jr., Pumpkins, Pearl Jam) and I plan on replacing the single coils with SSL-1s and using 250K pots. I can get most of the sounds I need from the 4 non-bridge only positions, but I want a different HB to kick in for leads or add some chunk to rythms. I play through a Marshall Vintage Modern and usually a Fuzz Face or Muff.

I was thinking JB, 59, Custom Custom, or Distortion in that order. I know the JB works well with 250K pots but i'm not sure about the others.

Ideas and thoughts are welcome.

Oh yeah, It's an alder body, maple neck, rosewood fingerboard for those not familiar with the model.

90s alternative? You don't want a SD, you want a Dimarzio Super Distortion.

I regret taking mine out of my jaguar. :/

I've been wanting to try a C8 just to see what the buzz is about. Anyone see a reason why it would not work here?
