Pickup makes sound but no reading on ohms meter?

Just bought two vintage gibson made mini hum-buckers and both read open.
Meter has been tested and working. I cked these pickups with all the settings.
Connected cable and both produce sound by tapping on them or holding next
to the strings.
These are the 1446 Silvertone 3 by 3 mini buckers with patent # sticker.
Any help or recommendations would be greatly appreciated!
Also how much $ for a rewind of one of these?

Thanks Capt Brad

Have you got your meter set to ohms or Kilo-ohms?
May not need a rewind it could just be the hookup wire

Famously, the bridge/Treble pickup on Roy Buchanan's Telecaster, "Nancy", never gave meter readings but it sure sounded good.

That guitar has come up in my search for info.
I have not had them in a guitar yet but will try them out soon.

OK I tried both pickups wired straight to jack and both sound great lots of treble response!

The Seymour Duncan factory does rewinds on any pickups. Contact them, and they can give you a quote. The contact info is at the bottom of seymourduncan.com

After wire in to my 1940 Zephyr and plugging it in I don't think I'm going to rewind these!

Yes is does sound wonderful with this pickup!
It is cool that Epiphone is where the mini bucker got it's start!
Got some more work to do on the body but this restoration coming along nicely.

Still no answers on why these pickups work but read open?

Same with the humbucker in EVH's striped Frankenstein guitar. When the Fender guys took it out of the guitar back when they were making the Frankenstein replicas, they thought they'd broke it. They panicked and had to call Ed, who just laughed and told them not to worry.

So I'm to believe that I have two pickups like Roy's and ED's?
I'm not sure I'm worthy of such a honor. But they do sound wicked!
