Pickup output issues

Hello

I have recently fitted an SH59 vintage in the neck of my les paul which is sounding great, i have also put a custom pickup in the neck which is working but doesn't seem to be producing the same power as the vintage which is odd as the cutom pickup is supposed to have the powerful "hot" sound?

Any ideas what this could be? There were two wires left not connected so i linked them together, is this right?

Cheers

Re: Pickup output issues

You may have only one coil working. Red & white should be together, black to hot, green and bare wire to ground.

Re: Pickup output issues

welcome to the forum!!

the custom pup you are talking about is a sh5 duncan custom or a custom made pup? the custom is in the bridge and the 59 is in the neck?

Re: Pickup output issues

Thanks for the welcome, the pickup is the seymour duncan SH5 custom model and its in the bridge position but its not giving out as much power as the 59 vintage in the neck

Re: Pickup output issues

check the wiring like zhang said and then raise the custom closer to the strings

Re: Pickup output issues

Just wanted to say cheers for the advice, completely re-installed the duncan custom and it sounds awesome, my epiphone and mg 50 amp now sounds more impressive than my mates £700 ibanez and avt marshall!!!
