Pickup phase fix?

I'm trying to dial in my tele. It has a Zhang Waylon firebird mini bucker in the neck, a Dimarzio Satch track in the middle and a Duncan Jerry Donahue in the bridge. It sounds like the neck pup is out of phase. I thought I could flip middle pup around, but I assume if I do that, it will throw the bridge out of phase, right? Anyone know what wires I need to change on a Zhangbucker?? Thanks

If it's 4 wires, it's the 2 not twisted and soldered together

Indeed, if you flip the middle pickup, it will be out of phase with the bridge pickup then. Sorry that I can't help with the wiring code of the Zhangbucker! If you change the wire that is the hot wire now (the wire that goes to your pickup selector) with the ground wire (the wire that is connected to a grounding point like the back of a pot) you'll be there though!

Re: Pickup phase fix?

thanks guys! Thats what I figured, so will have to tear it down one of these days and swap wires. Its been an ongoing process and I thought all I had left to do was adjust the action and pickup height. I got the action set incredibly low on it and got the pups balanced. But was noticing it sounded like I was getting some phase from the neck pup.. I hadnt noticed it before. And, whats strange is that it isnt as obvious as Ive heard with other guitars when Ive had them out of phase. Anyhow, strings are relatively new, so I dont want to rip it down just yet..But Ill get to it in a week or so.

Re: Pickup phase fix?

My Firebirds are made with either ol' fashioned coaxial braid lead or 2-conductor plus bare. If it's braid, you'd have to go under the cover which I don't recommend if you don't have experience with it. If it's 2+bare, just switch the black and white leads, leave bare grounded at all times.
