Pickup Positions

Hello,

I've recently acquire a SD lil '59 (single coil format) and 2 SD SSL-5 custom staggered for my stratocaster. But i was wondering.. Can i mount the Lil '59 at the neck position instead of the bridge position? I usually use the 5th and 4th position the most, thats why i'm asking this..
I'd be appreciated if anybody give me an opinion on this subject (i'm kinda new in this pickup thing )

Thanks in advance,
Cumps from Portugal.

Re: Pickup Positions

There isn't a huge difference in resistance between the neck and bridge models of the l'il '59 so it should work out okay. You might find it just a little bit dark and maybe a bit hot but depending on the guitar it might sound pretty good. Worth a shot, at least.

I don't have any personal experience with that particular pickup so I can't say for sure, though. Sorry I can't be more help.

I'm not sure what you are going to get in the 4th position combining a HB and a single, unless of course you were planning to split the lil 59

I have a few guitars with HSH pickup configs. Some of them have coil splits for the humbuckers.
I have to say, I don't really notice a huge difference whether the neck pickup is split or not - you still get that "quack", although clearly not to the same extent as you do with a set of vintage style singles.
