Pickup sugestions

I've been playing my lap steel for a few years now. I put a Seth Lover in it a couple years ago, it sounded great but was a drastic change from my guitar that I run through the same rig. I put Fuglybuckers in my guitar and loved them so I put one in my lap steel. It's a lot better but I find that I have the bass side of the pickup cranked away from the strings by about 3/8" and the treble side about 1/8" to try and equal out the response. It's an Ohau from the '40s, brass nut and 1 vol. no tone. What do you guys think I should try?

Re: Pickup sugestions

Depending upon your lap-steel, I would check out Bill Lawrence (Wilde Pickups.) He makes a 10 string pickup for lap-steels. His pickups have a very flat EQ so they might be what you are looking for. If you have a 6 string lap-steel, I would suggest the L-500-C (for clean.) Again, it has a super flat EQ while still being bright and open. I also found that it works great with your tone control.

Re: Pickup sugestions

Weel after a little looking around I realized I had left the 250k vol. pot in when I installed the humbucker. Swapped it out for an EVH low friction 500k and the pickup height is closer to normal settings and I just pulled a little high end off with my eq pedal. I must have been in a hurry.
