pickup suggestions (basswood)

I have a Japanese Mustang and it has my favorite clean tone of all time, but it's not that great distorted, especially when playing higher diads it has this shrill resonating sound too it.

Which pickup would have a VERY similar clean tone, but could also handle distortion? I've got my eye on vintage rails and maybe cool rails.

the cool rails has a ncie clean tone and dirty tone. its fatter than a traditional single coil but still has a nice top end to it

Can you get that clanky funk sound from cool rails? I know a VR can do it from hearing the new sound clip.

yes, but it'll be fatter. The VR's are much better for that type of sound, but the cool rails will give you a little more sustain and body of tone.

Mustang with P90 bridge....Mmmmmmm.

You'd need a new pickguard though.
