Alright...the bridge pickup in my new Jackson has to go NOW.

The guitar is alder/maple cap, bolt on maple/rosewood neck, so I'm guessing it's fairly bright, I can't tell, 'cause the bridge pickup sounds like a neck pickup (it sounds orgasmic in the neck...).

I need the pickup to have a tight, thick low end, good harmonics, an open/airy/crunchy high end, and be defined for leads and technical riffing. I do a lot of leads on the bridge pickup as well as rythm, and my DD handles this very nicely, so I'm looking for something comparable, and as aggressive as the DD.

I keep reading that the Invader is bad for leads, but good for rythm, so that might be out of the picture. I've heard very little about the Dimebucker, but I know I don't like Dime's tone (too scooped and buzzy). With the Custom I'm concerned about the harmonics and aggresiveness.

Lemme know what you guys think!

sounds like you need the custom! if its too bright for your taste, you can tame the highs with a 250k vol pot.

yeah, I decided to go with an EMG 85...the tone of that in alder is just...good. lol.

what will you be using in the neck?

Neck will be either the current EMGHZ3 (surprisingly enough, sounds orgasmic) or a 60 or 60A.

the 60 is one of my favorite neck pup! just a tad too bassy though. any experience with the 60a

Perhaps the rep about the Invader is not what it deserve? I have one in the bridge of a Ibanez RG and it sounds great for soloing: it´s thick, aggresive and lots of harmonic overtones. It reminds me more about Billy Gibbons than Tom Delonge, so to say.

I have an Invader in my (basswood) RG, and although it does have its own very distinct character, its also more flexible than many think, and it can do far more than just the tom delonge tone including soloing, however i do still believe its biggest strength is in rhythm playing.
