Pickup suggestions for 2018 Gibson SG

Re: Pickup suggestions for 2018 Gibson SG

To the OP: did that SG come with the 61 set? If so, what didn't you like about them?

Blasphemy.

Upgrading pups is like circumcizing in Middle Eastern religions (and, for some bizarre reason, protestant America)

You don't ask why, you just do it!!!

Thanks all for the replies, and duly noted.
I’m going to give the monotone premier kit a go with new Duncan’s , not sure how going old school could go wrong.

Yes Sir,
They sounded to my old hard rock/ heavy metal ears all rite but they didn’t have the tone I was hoping for. Plus with the 300k pots I don’t think that was going to do the trick for me. I also didn’t realize it had a pc board (which isn’t totally a bad thing) I could just see I was going to need to revamp the electronics to get this thing up to my needed specs.

Unlike all religions, I think by myself, not by what other may tell me to think.

Therefore, I asked the OP what were his reasons, considering the stock pickups, that made him decide to change them. He gladly answered, giving a valid opinion.

If nobody ever questioned, Mankind would not evolve.

Thanks on your input. Congrats on the guitar, and hope you find the pickups matching your needs!

Re: Pickup suggestions for 2018 Gibson SG

Last year I bought a new 2017 Gibson SG Standard with Classic 57/57+ Pups and wanted to try something else also in the bridge.
I had a Duncan 59/Custom Hybrid already that I wanted to try in the bridge position, so I installed the QC pigtail adapter and plugged it in.
Works great, sounds great for me and with a much better middle position tone also. Quick Connect makes it easy to go back or change to something else until you know what you want. I had no need to change pots, etc in this SG.

The 57+ Bridge Pup that I took out had Screw North Polarity (I suppose it is rwrp) and the norm seems to be Screw South like my Duncan 59 custom/hybrid has. That didn't make any difference as far as I can tell. I've kept it in for about six months now and really like them.

Good luck on yours
