Pickup Suggestions for a Maple Bodied Guitar

Hi,

I have a solid maple bodied strat with one humbucker, a brass bridge, and a maple neck/board. I play 80s rock and blues. I don't like the way the 59 sounds that is in it now. I was thinking either a DD or SD. I had an ESP Kamikaze that was a maple bodied guitar that had a DD in it that sounded pretty good, but it had a maple neck with an ebony board. Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance!

Hey Mark,

Ralph (Gainfreak) has a Custom in his solid maple GMW and it sounds GREAT.

What don't you like about the 59? My first assumption is that the guitar is very bright, and you want to tone it down a notch. I'd look at something A2, like the CC. Warm, yet higher output. It will do everything but the most serious thrash.

The CC will do everything in an all maple axe. I have one in my all maple Carvin with an ebony fingerboard and it can get great clean and heavily overdriven tones.

i'd go for either the duncan CC or a dimarzio super 3. they're relatively similar in that they got that big mid boost you need to warm up maple. i have a super 3 in my all maple ibanez and i need to BOOST treble on my amp >_> it sure sounds nice and warm tho. quite different from mahogany, i likes =D

remember tho, that the super 3 has crazy output and may not work out for your styles.
