Hallo!
I have, as the title suggests, a Parker Nitefly M. It plays beautifully and is jolly comfy. However, I have now tried three sets of pickups in it and can't get what I'd like out of it.
First up were the stock pickups. Then a set of Q-Tuners. Currently it has a Humbucker From Hell and a PAF Pro.
The issue has been the same with all of them; it's great distorted but lacks "sparkle" and character clean - it's just a bit "plinky" somehow. I accept that this could be down to all sorts of things - the carbon/glass neck and fingerboard, the steel frets, the fairly thin mahogany body, blah blah blah. However, I'm willing to try another set of pickups just on the offchance because it is such a nice guitar to play.
So. Neck position I'd like something sparkly and jangly, possibly even a bit "raw" sounding. Bridge I'd like a bit more WOARGH - I don't need lots of output, but a healthy midrange spike would be nice. Not quite into stuck-wah territory, but a little in that direction. I have two push-pulls in the guitar for splits or series/parallel (have the latter at the moment). I think I'd prefer plain black pickups or chrome covers.
I am not fussed about brands, but would prefer to stick to affordable pickups (ie not significantly more than I can get SDs from the US for - cheaper is fine).
Would EMGs suit? They seem a little pricey but the guitar already has a battery compartment for the piezos.
Ta muchly in advance.
