that's a really cool guitar, I almost bought one a while back, I really like'em

Re: pickup suggestions for mim nashville deluxe

while the duncan 5/2 ROCKS I did not like it in my n'ville tele, it sounded really thin and bad in combo with the center strat pup... made the bridge/center option rathe useless to me. I put the stock back in and am on the hunt again.

Re: pickup suggestions for mim nashville deluxe

I've got the same question as the OP. I couldn't find the tone I'm after in those clips. I should have bought a 60's-style Tele. What is good for clean, traditional country style playing? I'm after that rich but slightly metallic-sounding clean tone found in all the classics from Six Days on the Road to Harper Valley PTA. I want nice-sounding clear to piercing, transparent sound with the specific edginess of a Tele. The most dirt I'll need is like Eugene's guitar in the movie Crossroads. Specifically for country and some blues. Don't need distortion, but I'm after something that is unmistakably "Tele."

Help appreciated. :)

Re: pickup suggestions for mim nashville deluxe

For hum cancelling... Vintage Stack Tele bridge, Strat Classic Stacks in neck and middle with a custom pick guard cut for two Strat pickups. ( Pickguards on eBay for <$20)

For straight up Tele single coils with Strat middle.....Jerry Donahue or Alnico Pro II bridge, Alnico Pro II in the neck and middle. Maybe a 5/ 2 neck pickup. Original pick guard.

Re: pickup suggestions for mim nashville deluxe

If you want a Bakersfield style tone out of the bridge, the STL-1 would be my choice. I'd pair it with a SSL-1 in the mid. As far as tele neck pickups go, I'm not a fan, so I'd get a pickguard cut for a firebird style mini like Duncan's SM-1n.

It's hard to find samples, even on the SDuncan website. Anywhere else I can look besides youtube?

Local guitar shop recommends Kinman Broadcasters.
