Pickup Swap

I recently purchased an Ibanez Jem Jr used but absolutely mint for $350 with a hardshell case. The guitar was awesome out of the gate. I dropped an Original Floyd Rose and Schallers in it and it absolutely shreds except... The stock Quantum pickups, well the bridge anyway is too shrill.

I'm contemplating a DiMarzio Air Norton, True Velvet, Tone Zone combo. I play everything from southern rock to metal to worship.

I posted this same question on the DiMarzio forum. What on the SD side of the house would cover this spectrum? I'd like to have gold pole pieces as an option.

All suggests welcome. Thanks in advance.

Re: Pickup Swap

Not sure about the tonal comparisons with IBZ pups. but Duncan has quite a few which should work for you.

bridge = Custom,
Neck = Pearly Gates,
Middle = A2P rwrp

Re: Pickup Swap

Great set!
If you want something on the not-shrill-side, try the
Custom Custom
Alnico II
Alnico II Pro

Re: Pickup Swap

Or the Custom 5. Or my favorite, the Custom 8. (For metal, to me the CC seems like it might be a bit too "muffled").

Re: Pickup Swap

Also there is the 59 custom hybrid. You can always try PAF style pickups in the bridge too, Pearly Gates or Seth Lovers. Neck you can go with the 59, Pearly Gates, or the Jazz.
