pickup to match with sd EVH

hey guys im gettin a new guitar in january with the duncan custom shop evh pickup in the bridge and i was wondering wat to get in the neck for a nice sustaining overdriven tone. i dont want to get another evh cuz thats too much money. i was thinking of the full shred but im not sure how well this cleans up. any reccomendations?

yeah i was thinking about the a2pro. the jazz of course is everyones favorite neck p'up. o and this will be a basswood body btw

I persoanlly love the Pearly gates neck!!! The APH, Jazz, and full shred are all good choices though.

Pearly Gates, definately. Like the EVH, the PG is an alnico II loaded humbucker with stagger wound coils.

EVH/PG I've never tried them both in the same guitar at the same time, but I'm positive, they'd make a great set.

While we're on the subject, what exactly IS the difference between a custom shop EVH and a PG bridge (other than price, of course )?

I did some clips for a forumite a ways back. IIRC, the PG is hotter and not as clear as the EVH neck.
