Re: Pickup Trends (JB)

I'm about to put a covered JB TB (wax potted) in my Alder Strat and remove my CC TB to put it in an Ash bodied "budget" Seymour Duncan Strat.

Re: Pickup Trends (JB)

the more I play with the JB - the more I'm liking it... I really dig the ripping clean mids (seems like it would do nicely for some Nirvana tunes ;) - at least to me, one of my fave bands)

peace

Re: Pickup Trends (JB)

JB is too harsh, treble & high mid heavy in some guitars. But in some guitars its pure magic for hard rock and metal styles(les paul styled). With a marshall amp, though.....the mids are too much. Its not too bad for lead/solos but for everything else its not so great. It is much improved through other amps in my experience.

Re: Pickup Trends (JB)

I originally tried the JB in my alder strat and I thought is was a bit harsh, then again every HB seemed to have that problem. I threw the bassiest pup I could find in there (VHPAF) and I'm still thinking about slapping an A2 magnet in there.

So today I was slapped the JB in my Vintage Mahogany Les Paul and it sounded really, really nice! Suprisingly, no treble spike at all. I can strum away with this pup in the bridge. Leads sound good, distortion sounds great. No woman tone tho - the only drawback so far, but the burstbucker pro in neck can still do that bit.

The JB could probably sound good in **** near anything if you use the right magnets with it. Stock, it's a little picky.

ROWAN you'll love the JB ceramic/Distortion Lite, try it! It's probably the biggest "SLEEPER" out there!
