Pickup Wiring " Gods " ..... need your help re: Wiring a P90 Dummy Coil in Series ?
Hi aPickup Wiring " Gods "
I have a single GFS P90 pickup guitar and am installing a dummy P90 Coil.
I have another identical GFS P90 Pickups. Both these identical GFS P90's come in bang on 9k
I have removed the magnets from the Dummy P90 and left the screw poles in - I have tested it and it is still bang on 9k
Each pickup has a " White " HOT a " Black " Ground and " Silver Sheild " Ground.
The Guitar has 1 x Volume. There is *NO* pickup selector. There is *NO* tone control. There is an Output Jack.
The wiring is quite simple and is as follows:-
a -> Black + Silver Shield for both pickups are grounded to the back of the vol pot
b -> White [HOT] lead from the Dummy P90 is connected to the White [HOT] lead of the Active P90
c -> then the combined White [HOT] lead is soldered to Lug 1 on the Vol Pot
d -> Lug 2 on the Vol Pot is going to the Output Jack
e -> Lug 3 of the Vol Pot is grounded to the back of the Vol Pot
Result
-> No 60cycle Hum + Super quiet = good
-> Works = good
My Problem
There is a really noticeable drop in pickup output / volume - I measured it and it has dropped from 9k to 4.2k - as such, I [presumably] have therefore wired the P90 Dummy Parallel to the Main Pickup instead of series
My Question
-> what do I need to change to my wiring above in order to run the Dummy P90 in Series with the Main P90 ?
All help would be gretaly appreciated.
Ben
