Pickup Wiring help for SG

Hey guys,

I'm looking to have a JB-8 in the NECK but wired in PARALLEL, and then a Custom 8 in the bridge wired series. I'm going to have a push/pull pot for split coils (Splits to the Screw coil in JB-8 , and split to the SLUG coil in the C-8)

Please check this wiring diagram I've prepared. Will this Push pull wiring allow me to have Parallel mode JB in the down position, and an inner coil split (Screw N + Slug B) in both pickups in the Up position??

I've used the SD diagram to help me but I want to know if this wiring will specifically give me IN PHASE + HUM CANCEL in the middle position with the pickups wired like both of these.


I can't do this for another week or so hence I'm asking in case I wire it up wrong !



(black wire of JB goes to the DPDT, and gets grounded in the UP - split position, and goes to the HOT lug on the volume with the Red in Down position for Parallel config)

The only thing that you need to change is to remove the connection to ground on the upper left lug of the neck push/pull.

Think of it this way... the hot signal ALWAYS WANTS to go to ground. You have the hot split to the two separate coils coming off the volume control (which is perfect), but if the black wire gets grounded, ALL the hot will go there, including what you wanted to go to the south coil. Result: silent pickup with the switch "up."

If you remove the connection to ground, then the hot simply never makes it to the North coil because the switch breaks the connection... and you're left with just the South coil, just as you wanted.

EDIT: I just looked more closely, and I was incorrect because you have the black lead to the pickup going to the left middle lug of the p/p, not the hot to the volume as I was thinking. Your diagram WILL WORK FINE! Although the aforementioned connection to ground is unnecessary, it will NOT render the pickup silent.
