Pickup Wiring PRail

Hey guys, i was thinking of getting a P-Rail for the bridge and a single for the neck and single for the middle on a guitar body i just got.

Body (used) has no pickguard, wires in from the back... Already setup for a HSS, a single volume, single tone and a 5-way switch.

I was going to drill a hole for a mini 3-way switch for the P-Rail... But woukd rather have push/pull pots... Volume would turn on/off the single, and the tone would toggle the P90. So both in, both on. Pull the knob out and it turns off that coil.

Im not interested in the triple shot pickup ring.

Does anyone know of a diagram for this setup? I dont have the pickups yet, lookingbtonsee what's involved before i buy the stuff.

Thanks

Re: Pickup Wiring PRail

get the Duncan Tripleshot mounting ring... has 2 mini switches that give you series, parallel, P90 and single coil. all that is on the mounting ring so your 5 way can simply select whatever Prail setting you make same as any other pup. I like P-rails... tons of kool tones

Re: Pickup Wiring PRail

@clint55 I'm not sure those will work... I need 1 volume to control all 3 pickups, and 1 tone to control all 3 pickups... but the volume push/pull to turn on/off the prail single, and the tone push/pull to turn on/off the P90 portion.

I'd say use the Les Paul wiring diagram and just get rid of the two regular pots, but then I'd have no volume control.

Re: Pickup Wiring PRail

If you isolate only the push pull sections of the LP diagram - the boxes of 6 lugs - and combine it with the strat diagram that's what it gives you.

Ah I getcha... I think. :)

Pickups are on order... ordered push/pull A500K and B500K pots for it as well. Should be here soon and can start testing with them. Luckily I have a bunch of small alligator clips so, can save some soldering when testing.

Re: Pickup Wiring PRail

I've gotten a nice template made in Illustrator so when I do new wiring and it works, I make a diagram for my own records.

So, if/when I get this config working, I'll upload a diagram for anyone who may have the same setup.
