Pickup Wiring

I recently made purchases of pickups for my guitars. I know that the wiring is different color codes for each company. but these two pickups are different and I was wondering if any one could help me with the wiring. All the other companies has wiring diagrams online, but these two don't.

bc rich bdsm active pickup.
The bc rich active pickup only has two wires and is not like an EMG. Do I hook the battery to the red wire and then output like a ground wire and then the black wire is the hot wire? um, like a single coil?

First Act.
The first act is a humbucker, but only has two wires and a ground wire like a single coil. could any one tell me which is the hot wire and which is ground?

I am just intermediate at pickup wiring.

Re: Pickup Wiring

Welcome to the forum.

On the active pickup, the inner black conductor is hot, the outer shielding is ground. These cannot be reversed EXCEPT by means of a powered device such as the EMG PI-2.

The passive humbucker could be wired in one of two ways.
1) Hot +, Hot -, Baseplate ground
2) Hot, Coil Split, Overall Ground (baseplate and coils)

If you have a DC resistance meter, take readings between all three permutations of these wires. For option 1, there should be no significant reading until the ground and one end of the pickup are connected. For option 2, the resistance between ground and the coil split connection will be approximately half that between ground and the "hot" output conductor.

Wiring convention 1 allows phase reversal. Convention 2 does not.

Re: Pickup Wiring

are you absolutely sure those BC Rich BDSM pickups are active, never heard of active BDSMs, i'm hoping you are not confusing the plastic cover on them as an active pickup.

Re: Pickup Wiring

i've worked on a BC rich guitar (a kerry king signature, mid-tired) that had BDSM pickups just like the one pictured which was passive bro, i think someone made it up because of the plastic cover.
