Pickup Wishlist

This is a thread for anyone who has an idea for a pickup they would like Seymour Duncan to make.

I'll start things off with some simple variations.

Humbuckers/Mini-Humbuckers
I haven't tried the Dimebucker yet, but I love my Hot Rails and I wish SD would make a full size humbucker of the Hot Rails. In the meanwhile, The Invader might be my alternate choice. Wouldn't be great if there was a mini-humbucking version of The Invader? Talk about Super Strat! I'd also like to see a mini-humbucking version of the Alnico II Pro Humbucker, just because it might be warmer and darker than the single coil. Flat and staggered poll pieces welcome.
And what about the pickups that are only designed for neck or bridge position? I think we would all like a little flexability on that one.

There, that's a few ideas for you. Tell me what you think. If we come up with enough pickup ideas, maybe we can hold a poll to see which pickups we want the most.

Re: Pickup Wishlist

This has been done fairly recently (I hope you're not offended that I bring this up). I think one of the feelings is that there aren't a lot of medium output humbuckers in the Duncan line and there need to be more. I remember something a little hotter than a Pearly Gates but not as hot as a Custom Custom being one of the more popular suggestions (and one I agree with).

I would like to see a regular production alnico II strat pickup thats hotter too.

Re: Pickup Wishlist

I'm not offended. I think this topic should be brought up as often as possible. If you've been playing for at least a few years, you're going to have a better idea of what sound you want than someone who just makes pickups. So our opinions and ideas need to be heard.

Re: Pickup Wishlist

i would like a seymourduncan woody pick ups, or a tube pick up for an acoustic guitar. i didnt post in the one done earelier so ya

Re: Pickup Wishlist

Yeah . . . these have been done before, but they're still fun. :laugh2:

I wanna see a Quarter Pound, where the second half of the wind is only taken halfway . . . er 75%.

A QP wound 7.0k/10.5k, or 11k. Somewhere in that area. ;)

Re: Pickup Wishlist

There needs to be a 9.5-11.5K bucker besides the Demon. Or the EVH should become production. Also, More buckers with rails!!!!

Re: Pickup Wishlist

Here's a face-melter for ya: Put two mini-humbuckers (or two single-coil sized humbuckers) together to create an uberbucker! The possibilities would be near-endless then. Of course, if the uberbucker was too dark or muddy, then the pickups might need to be parallel wound. Discuss, Discuss.

anyone who has read any of my previous posts has heard my praises for the ibanez ah2 (axis 2). i would love to see something like that with a thicker sounding bottom end. think like jb bottom, ah2 mid and top.

Re: Pickup Wishlist

Welcome to the forum Saturnjam!!!

I want to see the medium output bucker 10-12k

Medium Output strat pups 8-10k

The Custom Distortion (custom with large mag)

More full size rails...,.maybe a rails option, kind of like a floor shop custom deal?

Finally a QP like Artie described....or/and an A2 QP version

Luke

Re: Pickup Wishlist

Give me a '59 neck ... keep all the vibe and sweetness, but give it an edgy top end to make it sizzle and zing

Also take a Full Shred ... increase the bass a little and hopefully it can still retain the articulate sound

gee I'm real original

I hope we don't sound like we're patting each other on the back here . . . But I like this idea. :)

After trying to chase down some pole-piece spacing specs, a Custom 5 "rail", would be very cool.

I love the full shred the way it is but, a tad more bass would make it my favorite ever.

Re: Pickup Wishlist

I will say it again, WE NEED MORE RAILS ON BUCKERS!!!!

Re: Pickup Wishlist

The Dimebucker sounds so good split into single coil that I'd like to cut that pup in half and drop it into my strat,(hotter side to bridge, and try the other in the middle or neck. Kind of like the Charlie Christain Repro, but keeping it single coil size.

The Hot Rails is NOT, I repeat, NOT a "Minihumbucker".

Firebird and LP Deluxe pickups are minihumbuckers. :smack:

I too want the '78 model to be a production pickup. :burnout:

Re: Pickup Wishlist

maybe they should put the El Diablo into production. that would satisfy some of the rail cravers, and also the people who are going to be haunting SD for it because they tried it in the Scott Ian model or the Dan Donagen model and "LOVED IT!!!"
