Pickups for 1 humbucker setup

Im looking for a humbucker that could cope with high gain and some shred lines,
but still have a PAF tone

i found used Dimarzio Norton and 36th PAF i wonder which will sound best for my needs?

anyone had experience with these pickups on high gain?

The Norton or "Air Norton" would be the best choice if you go DiMarzio. The 36th Ann. PAF may be a little too vintage, if you do metal stuff.

Many of us here have, including myself, have dabbled in "hybrid" pickups, where we combine a coil from a hot pickup like a Custom or JB, with a coil from a PAF type like a '59. The Norton is essentially DiMarzio's production model of this idea.

The Duncan Custom is the "PAF on steroids" pickup which many state is a great pickup if you like to shred sometimes and play more classic stuff too.

Personally, I'm in love with my Custom/59 hybrid. It seems like it can do it all!

I would go with a Custom, Custom/59 Hybrid, or a 500T from Gibson. If you are set of DiMarzio I would go Air Norton but I think any one of the other 3 would be better.

The Custom. If you wanna go boutique etc I'd try the Cold Sweat or Nailbomb from Bare Knuckle.

Out of the two you posted I would go with the Norton, If you come up with some cash or can do a trade I would go with a custom.
